The largest hydraulic dam in the USA.  In 1933 FDR  (Roosevelt) then President and distant relative to Teddy,  approved a program to dam the Missouri River at Fort Peck, Montana to provide thousands of Depression era jobs and generate electricity for hundreds of thousands.  There is much too much to describe here, but a visit to the web site www.fortpeckdam.com tells the story

The dam is central to the George Russell Nature Preserve, and area of rich beauty and miles of off road trails,  The photos show some of the views and some of the creatures found there.
